Since I am yet to delve into any real reporting, I am going to take this opportunity to introduce my fellow bloggers. If you want to get the full story of this cross country trip you will need to check out the new sites created by my friend Steve, and my girlfriend Rachel, who for better or for worse will accompany me for much of the trip.
Steve Kolowich, a Bowdoin graduate and former editor-in-chief of his college paper is keeping a travelogue at the site Americanpostard.wordpress.com.
Rachel Pfeffer, who graduated from Brandeis with all sorts of awards and honors in sculpture, has created the most artistic of the three blogs. Called Designshotgun, this blog will look at the many designs across the country from the patterns created by cracks in the sidewalks to the billboards that ensconce the highway.

Don’t forget to check out the water-gazers before you leave your insular city of the Manhattoes . . .especially because you’re ignoring I’s advice and turning landward . . .

Oh, yes — do we get any pictures? You & your fellow travelers in front of the car at roadside attractions?

Fer the young folks in DC, try Adams Morgan – it’s also a pretty nice non-residential, non-tourist area of town.
Also, there’s a gum tree outside of one of the theaters… I don’t think it’s Ford’s theater… it’s possibly National Theater… I’m sure you’ll find plenty in that tree.
